The Portugal Bicycle Tour Travel Blog 2015… Planning is of the Greatest Import

5 Months Weighs a Lot

5 Months Weighs a Lot

Although my trip to Europe has begun, my endless pre-bicycle tour planning for Portugal has still left me with one important thought: Plan More!  Whether it’s the USB charging cable for my Garmin 500 (thank goodness I’m going to attempt use my iPhone 5s with a well reviewed navigation app called Komoot) or having my rear tire blow out on my GT Grade Carbon Ultegra because Sports Chek’s (you’re probably asking yourself why I didn’t go with a proper shop. Well it’s all about monopolies of certain brands that now force you to buy the perfect bike unqualified generic retailers) mechanics (or GT themselves) didn’t have the savvy to put the proper rim tape in the Stan’s Notubes Grail wheels.  So now, as I begin this blog, my bike is sitting upside down, rims bare, until my proper Stan’s proprietary yellow rim tape arrives to Evans cycles here in Cambridge, UK.  This gives me the incentive to take the next few weeks before my trip to fine tune everything from the bike to the gear and my routing plans.  For a 25 day bike tour, I believe I have my total weight, including bicycle down to around 68-73 pounds so I’m ahead of the game.  The included pic of me shows a ton of gear as this is the beginning of a 5 month adventure that is also about a girl.  Isn’t it always about a girl? ✈️
